1. Introduction
Welcome to Alertmee (“we,” “our,” or “us”). Alertmee is a collaborative productivity and alarm platform designed to help individuals, accountability partners, families, and teams complete important tasks on time through ringing audible alarms, shared urgency, peer reminders, and photo proof verification.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Alertmee mobile application (available on iOS and Android) and our associated cloud services (collectively, the “Service”).
We believe in a privacy-first approach:
- We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information or location data.
- We do not display third-party advertisements or use behavioral ad-tracking SDKs.
- We do not track your movements or collect continuous background location breadcrumbs.
- We only collect the minimal information necessary to deliver mission-critical alarms, shared tasks, and app functionality.
By downloading, accessing, or using Alertmee, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use the application.
2. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide to Us Directly
- Account & Profile Information:
- Email Address: Required to authenticate your account, reset passwords, and communicate essential service notices.
- Display Name & Handle (
@username): Used to identify you within the app and allow your contacts or accountability partners to connect with you. - Profile Picture / Avatar: An optional image you choose to represent your profile.
- Third-Party Sign-In Data: If you choose to register or sign in using Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, we receive your name, email address, and an authenticated user identifier provided by Google or Apple.
- Tasks, Alarms & Reminders:
- Task titles, notes, due dates, scheduled alarm times, recurrence patterns, urgency levels (Alarm, Reminder, Notice), and completion status.
- When you assign or share a task with an accountability partner or group, this content is transmitted to the designated recipients.
- User Content & Media Attachments:
- Photo Proofs: When a task requires photo verification, photos captured using your camera or selected from your device’s photo library to verify task completion.
- Voice Notes & Audio Data: Audio recordings created when attaching voice notes to tasks or alarms.
- Chat Messages & Notes: Text messages, comments, and media shared in direct peer-to-peer or group task conversations.
- Safety, Moderation & Support Communications:
- Content reports submitted when flagging inappropriate content or abusive behavior.
- Support tickets, inquiries, or feedback sent through the in-app “Contact Us” feature or via email.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Device & Push Notification Identifiers:
- Push Notification Tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens on Android and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device tokens on iOS. These are essential for waking your device and triggering alarms sent by your contacts.
- Device Metadata: Device model, operating system version (e.g., iOS or Android version), application version, language preference, and time zone.
- Alarm & App Operational Diagnostics:
- Local alarm scheduling states (e.g., Apple AlarmKit IDs, Android exact alarm scheduling identifiers) to ensure scheduled alarms trigger reliably.
- Technical event logs (such as whether an alarm was acknowledged, snoozed, dismissed, or failed to fire due to system battery constraints) to maintain alarm reliability and troubleshoot issues.
C. Location Information (Geofence Alarms)
Alertmee offers an optional Location Alarms feature where an alarm rings when you arrive at or depart from a specific location (e.g., “Remind me when I leave the office”).
Our strict location privacy model:
- On-Device Evaluation: Geofence boundaries are monitored and evaluated locally on your device by the operating system (using Android’s
GeofencingClientand Apple’sCLCircularRegionvia CoreLocation). - No Location Tracking: We do not stream, record, or track your real-time GPS coordinates, route history, or location breadcrumbs.
- Data Stored on Servers: Our cloud database only stores the static geographic target set on the task (latitude, longitude, radius, and transition rule like arrival or departure) so the receiver’s device knows which fence to register with the OS.
- When you cross a geofence, your device triggers the alarm natively and posts a transition status (e.g., “Alex arrived at Office at 09:15”). Your continuous location is never transmitted to us or other users.
3. Device Permissions & Why We Need Them
To deliver real-time ringing alarms and accountability features, Alertmee requests certain device permissions. You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time through your device’s operating system settings.
| Platform | Permission | Why Alertmee Needs It |
|---|---|---|
| Android / iOS | Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | Essential to deliver alarm rings, urgent reminders, task assignments from contacts, and message alerts. |
| Android | Schedule Exact Alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM, USE_EXACT_ALARM) | Required to wake the device at the exact second a task alarm is scheduled, bypassing battery optimizations. |
| Android | Full-Screen Intent & Display Over Other Apps (USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT, SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) | Allows Alertmee to display the high-priority ringing alarm screen over the lock screen so you can immediately dismiss or snooze it. |
| iOS | AlarmKit | Enables system-level audible alarms on compatible iOS versions that ring even when the device is silenced or locked. |
| Android / iOS | Camera (CAMERA) | Used exclusively when you choose to take a photo proof to mark a task complete or scan a contact’s QR code. |
| Android / iOS | Photo Library | Used only when you choose to attach an existing photo or image to a task, proof, or chat message. Alertmee does not scan or upload your photo library. |
| Android / iOS | Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) | Used only when you tap to record a voice note attachment for a task or reminder. |
| Android / iOS | Speech Recognition | Used optionally if you choose to dictate a task title or note using voice input. |
| Android / iOS | Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) | Used solely if you opt in to Location Alarms (geofencing) so the operating system can trigger your alarm when entering or leaving a specified area. |

A. With Other Alertmee Users (Based on Your Explicit Actions)
- Accountability Contacts & Groups: When you accept a connection request or invite someone to a task or group, your profile name, handle (
@username), avatar, and shared task details are visible to those specific users. - Photo Proofs & Voice Notes: Media attached to a shared task is visible only to the assigner, assignee, and members of that shared group.
B. With Trusted Cloud Infrastructure Providers
We use reputable third-party infrastructure providers to run our backend systems under strict data protection agreements:
- Supabase Inc.: Our cloud database, authentication engine, and secure media storage provider. Data is hosted in secure, enterprise-grade facilities with PostgreSQL Row Level Security (RLS) and encrypted transport (TLS/HTTPS).

- Instant User Blocking: You can block any contact at any time. Blocking is enforced at the server database level—once blocked, that user cannot send you tasks, cannot ring your alarms, and cannot send you messages.
7. Data Security
We implement rigorous technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure:
- Encryption in Transit: All communications between the Alertmee mobile app and our backend servers are encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 / TLS 1.3 / HTTPS).
- Database Row Level Security (RLS): Database tables are governed by strict access policies ensuring that users can only view and modify data they own or are explicitly authorized to access.
