Privacy Policy for Expiry Hub
Expiry Hub (Renewal Tracker)
Last Updated: September 30, 2026
Effective Date: September 30, 2026
Application Name: Expiry Hub (Renewal Tracker)
Package / Application ID: com.expiryhub.expiry_hub
1. Overview & Core Philosophy
Expiry Hub is designed from the ground up with a strict “Privacy by Design” and “Offline-First” architecture.
Our core promise is simple:
Everything stays on your device. No account, no server, nothing ever leaves your phone.
Because Expiry Hub is used to track sensitive household and personal deadlines—such as passport expirations, driver’s licenses, insurance policies, warranties, legal documents, and financial renewals—we believe you should never have to entrust this data to a remote cloud server or third-party company.
2. Quick Summary Table
| Category | Policy / Practice |
|---|---|
| Account / Login | None required. No registration, email, or passwords. |
| Server Infrastructure | None. The app runs completely offline without any developer server. |
| Tracking & Analytics | None. Zero analytics SDKs, zero telemetry, zero advertising trackers. |
| Third-Party Advertising | None. No ads and no ad-network SDKs. |
| Data Storage Location | 100% on-device local storage (sandboxed SQLite database). |
| Notifications | Scheduled locally via the device operating system (no remote push tokens). |
| Photo Attachments | Stored strictly in local app sandbox directories on your device. |
| Data Portability | Manual user-controlled JSON, CSV, and iCalendar (.ics) exports. |
| Data Deletion | Instant local data erasure button in Settings, or by uninstalling the app. |
3. Information Handled by the Application
3.1 Information You Enter
When using Expiry Hub, you may choose to enter information about items you wish to track, including:
- Item Details: Title, category (e.g., Identity & travel, Vehicle, Home, Health, Finance, Digital, Warranties, Memberships, Pets, or custom categories), expiry/renewal date, and notes.
- Recurrence Settings: Renewal frequency (monthly, quarterly, yearly, custom interval).
- Reminder Configurations: Selected reminder offsets (e.g., 90, 30, 14, 7, 1 days before) and preferred reminder time of day.
- Document Attachments: Photos or document scans you voluntarily select from your camera or photo library.
Where this data lives:
All of this information is saved exclusively in a local SQLite database (drift) and sandboxed storage on your device. This data is never transmitted to us or any third party.
3.2 Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, process, or have access to:
- Personal Identifiable Information (PII) such as your name, email, phone number, address, or government ID numbers.
- Device identifiers used for tracking (e.g., IDFA, GAID, Android Advertising ID).
- Location data or GPS coordinates.
- Browsing history, IP addresses, or network activity.
- Diagnostic crash logs or usage metrics sent to external servers.
4. How Features Operate Locally
4.1 Local Notifications
- Reminders are scheduled directly with your device’s operating system via
flutter_local_notifications(using iOS UserNotifications framework and Android AlarmManager / NotificationManager). - No remote push notification servers (such as Firebase Cloud Messaging or Apple Push Notification service) are used.
- Notification text and dates remain on your device and are triggered by your device clock.
4.2 Home-Screen Widgets & Badges
- The Android home-screen widget and iOS WidgetKit extension display upcoming items by reading directly from local storage / shared App Group (
group.com.expiryhub.expiryHub). - App icon badges count overdue items locally on the device (
app_badge_plus).
4.3 Attachments and Photos
- When you attach an image or photo to an item, it is stored in the application’s isolated document directory.
- Attachments are stored with relative file paths to protect data integrity across OS updates and device restores.
- Attachments are never uploaded or synced to external servers by Expiry Hub.
5. Device Permissions
Expiry Hub only requests device permissions that are strictly necessary to deliver core local features:
| Permission | Platform | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Notifications | iOS & Android | Required to display upcoming renewal alerts at your preferred time. |
Exact Alarms / Reminders (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM) | Android | Optional. Allows reminders to fire at the exact minute specified rather than within an OS-batched window. |
| Camera | iOS & Android | Optional. Used only when you choose to take a photo of a document or receipt within the app. |
| Photo Library / Storage | iOS & Android | Optional. Used only when you select an existing image or document scan to attach to an item. |
You can modify or revoke these permissions at any time through your device’s system settings.
6. Backups, Exports, and Data Portability
6.1 Operating System Backups
Because Expiry Hub stores its database in the standard application documents directory:
- iOS: Data is included in your standard encrypted Apple iCloud Backup or iTunes/Finder backup, if you have device backups enabled.
- Android: Data is included in your standard Android Auto Backup (Google Drive), if you have device backup enabled.
These backups are managed directly by Apple or Google and are subject to their respective privacy policies. Expiry Hub developers do not have access to your OS backup files.
6.2 Manual Export & Import
Expiry Hub provides built-in tools under Settings → Your Data:
- Export Backup (JSON): Generates a full plaintext JSON copy of your items, categories, and settings, passed directly to your system’s native Share Sheet (AirDrop, email, file manager, etc.).
- Export CSV: Creates a spreadsheet-compatible file with one row per item.
- Export Calendar (.ics): Generates an iCalendar file that can be opened by calendar applications without connecting an account.
- Import Backup: Allows you to restore or merge items from a previously exported JSON backup file chosen via the native system file picker.
All exports and imports are initiated and controlled solely by you.
6.3 Data Deletion
- Erase All Data: Settings contains an explicit “Erase all data” option that wipes all items, reminders, attachments, and custom categories from the local database.
- Uninstalling the App: Deleting Expiry Hub from your device completely removes the local database and all associated cached files.
7. Third-Party Services and Advertising
- Zero Third-Party SDKs for Tracking: Expiry Hub contains no analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel), no crash reporting SDKs (e.g., Sentry, Crashlytics), and no marketing tools.
- Zero Third-Party Advertising: Expiry Hub does not display ads and does not integrate with any ad networks.
- No Data Sharing or Sale: We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer any user data to third parties.
8. Children’s Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)
Expiry Hub does not collect personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). The app is safe for general audiences and contains no content tracking, account sign-up, or remote data transmission.
9. Rights Under Global Privacy Regulations (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etc.)
Because Expiry Hub does not collect, process, or transmit personal data to remote servers:
- Right to Access & Portability: You can access all your data in the app UI or export it as JSON or CSV anytime.
- Right to Rectification: You can edit any item, category, or date directly within the app.
- Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”): You can immediately delete individual items, use “Erase all data” in Settings, or uninstall the app to permanently delete all data.
- No “Sale” of Personal Information: We do not sell personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) or similar state and global laws.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, the updated version will be committed to this repository and, if significant changes occur, announced via app release notes. Since we do not collect email addresses, we encourage users to review this document periodically.
